BISMARCK, N.D. - Measure 5, an effort to legalize medical marijuana has passed in North Dakota.

Medical marijuana will be legalized for diseases such as cancer, AIDS, hepatitis C, ALS, glaucoma and epilepsy.

The North Dakota Department of Health will regulate the program.

"I am overwhelmed with joy. For my son Sam, friends and so many North Dakota citizens that have worked hard to get this passed. My hope is to help patients that are struggling with illnesses that have gone on too long without relief," says Mary Erickson Rennich, committee member for North Dakota Committee for Medical Marijuana.
